Printing ONE Fleet Series Results
---Changing the results Status---
· Locate the folder (directory) for your particular regatta.
If one does not exist then copy the RSS 1.32 PC FOLDER and rename it:
Example: One Design Weekend
· Double click on the folder icon for your particular regatta. (Open the folder.)
· Double click on the RSS.exe file icon to start the program.
Note: This needs to occur for every new regatta.
· Enter regatta title in regatta title field .
Press the <TAB> key (on the keyboard).
· Enter the number of races (1-8).
Click on desired number or use the arrow key to scroll down the list and the enter key to choose it.
Click the ENTER BOATS button - this will open the regatta screen and place the cursor in the sail number field.
· Enter the sail number.
This can be either numeric or text. Examples: 27415, MBYC1, USA 2354.
· Press the <TAB> key.
· Enter the skipper name, first and last.
Example: Mongoose
Press the <TAB> key. (Are you getting the picture that the tab key moves between fields?)
· Enter the crew(s)name, first name and last. Note: Multiple crew names can be entered as new lines.
Example: Paul Cayard
Press the <TAB> key
· Enter the yacht club (optional)
A yacht club can be chosen from the drop down menu. If it isn't on the drop down menu, choose EDIT from the menu and add it in. This will make it easier if you have someone from that club again. You can always just enter it by typing it in.
Note: The drops down menus are editable to make them unique for you.
Press the <TAB> key
· Enter the fleet - (Mandatory in a multi-fleet regatta, recommended in a single fleet regatta.)
If the fleet does not appear on the drop down menu, ADD IT so that in the future you will be able to choose it again for entry and finding a fleet.
Press the <TAB> key. (You're probably tired of me writing this step down, but I don't want you to forget it.)
· For Handicap fleets, ENTER RATING (PHRF)
You're done with the first entry, for another:
Click the Green NEW ENTRY Button.
This will create a new record and you start all over again from step 1 of the Entering Boats section.
HINT: a keyboard shortcut for entering a new record is <CTRL>N (PC) or COMMAND N (MAC). This makes data entry a little speedier. You can also import records from an Excel spreadsheet, a tab delimited text file or another regatta.
Be sure to have the SAIL NUMBERS IN FINISH ORDER, that is the order that they crossed the line before starting this step. You don't need them separated into fleets. For the PHRF fleets, have the start time for the race as well as the finish time for each boat ready for entry.
· For RACE 1, CLICK THE RED BUTTON LABELED "1", (ONE) towards the top of the screen under the GO TO RACE NUMBER label.
You're opening the race 1 file; this is a separate file from where the results are stored. Here you will calculate the proper places for each boat. The regatta file assigned the points.
· Click OK
If the race file is empty it prompts you, you are now in the race file with a separate window.
· Click the NEW FINISHER button
<CTRL> N (PC) or COMMAND N (MAC) also works here. You're creating a new record.
· Enter the SAIL NUMBER in the sail number field.
If you know of a penalty that needs to be assigned, tab over to the penalty field and choose it from the drop down menu.
If the sail number is either a duplicate, or it has not been entered into the regatta file, you will get an error message.
If this happens, maybe you have already entered it; check your finishes to see if it is correct. If it's a boat that has just entered the regatta, simply delete the sail number from the record, return to the regatta (results) file, enter the boat, then return to the race file and it will be ok.
· Click the NEW FINISHER Button; this will enter a record for the next finisher. Or <CTRL>N (PC) or COMMAND N (MAC).
This message occurs when the sail number entered as a finisher doesn't match an entrant.
Example: Sail 28104 is entered (erroneously) as an entrant in the regatta. The finish file has 28014 as a finisher.
· Click OK button on the error message
· Click the red quick delete button
· Click Delete.
· Go to the series results window.
· Find the sail number 28104, change to 28014.
· Go to race file, enter in the finisher and it will now be accepted.
Note: The sail number in the race file must match EXACTLY the entry. Hitting the <Enter> key or the <Spacebar> when entering the number initially will cause the sail number to appear to be the same, but not (“28014 “ does not equal “28014”). When in doubt, reenter the entrant so you know it is correct.
· After all the finishers have been entered, take on Step 4 – Score The Race.
· Click the Blue, SCORE ALL FLEETS button.
· Click OK if you want to continue.
· Set DNCs?
Click YES, if the number of finishers is less that the total number of entries. You only need to do this once and the DNCs will be set for all fleets. All entrants that aren't on the finish list will have the penalty of DNC.
Extra info: The Score All Fleets button uses the relative finish order in each fleet to do this, that's why it's important to enter a fleet name.
Step 5 - Score Handicap Fleets (not needed if the regatta is composed of only one design fleets)
· Click the red Race Info button.
· Enter in the Start Time (hh:mm:ss, military time) and Distance for each handicap fleet.
· Click Exit.
· Click the button labeled 1 in the upper right, below class.
· Choose the fleet you'd like to score as class 1 (i.e. phrf1).
· Click Continue.
· Click in the Finish Time field and enter the finish time if it already isn't entered.
· Click in the Finish Time field of the next record (control arrow down will move to it).
· When you're finished entering all of the finish times, click the SCORE FLEET button.
· Click No, (you've probably already set the DNC's when scoring the fleets)
· This sets the place according to relating corrected time.
· For the second handicap fleet, click the button labeled 2, choose the second fleet you'd like to score as a handicap fleet and repeat above steps.
From the results (regatta file)
· Choose the PRINT ALL button.
· Choose Great.
· Click the Print button.
· Records being browsed should be chosen, and you can choose landscape or portrait mode depending on your printer driver.
· Choose the view fleet button.
· Choose the fleet you want to print from the drop down menu.
· Click View.
· Choose Print.
· If ties have already been resolved, choose Print.
By default, the results status is PENDING PROTESTS. To change this to FINAL:
· Click the CHANGE STATUS button.
· Choose FINAL from the drop down menu.
· Click Results.
Example: A boat's first race is race 3 of a five race series:
· Enter the boat in the regatta (Step 2), remember to add the correct fleet.
· Go to race 1 and 2 and either
A) Add the boat as a finisher and set the penalty as a DNC, or
B) Score the fleet and choose Set All Others To DNC = yes
If no races have been scored:
· In the regatta file, double click the sail number field and enter the new number
If races have been scored with the "old" sail number:
· In the regatta file, double click the sail number field and enter the new number
· Go to the races that were sailed with the "old" sail number and double click on the old number, change to the new sail number.
